Connectors / Gmail
Connect Gmail with an app password
Takes about two minutes. You need a Google account with 2-Step Verification turned on.
Turn on 2-Step Verification
Open Google Account security and turn on 2-Step Verification if it is not on already. App passwords only exist for accounts that use it.
Create an app password
Go to myaccount.google.com/apppasswords, name it Mailpitcher, and create it. Google shows a 16-character password. Copy it before you close the window.
Add the mailbox in Mailpitcher
Choose Gmail, enter your full Gmail address and paste the app password, not your normal Google password. The server settings below are filled in for you.
Test the connection
Mailpitcher checks that it can read and send before it saves the mailbox. A new mailbox starts at 10 emails a day and ramps up over about 14 days.

If you do not see App passwords
Google hides the option in these cases:
- 2-Step Verification is set up with security keys only.
- The account is a work, school or other organization account. Ask your admin.
- Advanced Protection is turned on.
Good to know
- IMAP is always on for personal Google accounts, so there is nothing to enable.
- Changing your Google password revokes your app passwords. Create a new one and update it in Mailpitcher.
- Google calls app passwords "not recommended" and prefers "Sign in with Google". Mailpitcher does not offer that yet.
- Google Workspace: 2,000 messages per day per user, 1,500 for mail merge, 500 on trial accounts. Mailpitcher caps each mailbox at 100 a day, well under that. Source.
