Mailpitcher shows the mail from all your mailboxes in one place. Anything you do here (archive, star, delete) also happens at your provider, so Gmail or Outlook show the same thing.

The mail screen

On the left is the sidebar. In the middle is the list of conversations. Click one and it opens on the right.

The mail screen: folders on the left, your conversations in the middle.
  1. 1: All Inboxes: mail from every mailbox in one list
  2. 2: Search
  3. 3: A blue dot means unread
  4. 4: Each mailbox and its own folders

The sidebar has three parts:

  • Favourites: All Inboxes (every mailbox together), Starred, Scheduled, and all your Drafts, Sent, Spam and Trash.
  • Outreach: Projects, Campaigns and Templates.
  • Each mailbox with its own folders. Click the small arrow to fold one away, or the cog to change its name, signature and daily cap.

On a phone, tap the menu button at the top left to open the sidebar.

Read and answer mail

Step 1: Open a conversation

Click it in the list. Your first email, follow-ups and their replies are shown together as one conversation. Opening it marks it as read.

Step 2: Reply, reply all or forward

Use the buttons above the conversation: Reply, Reply all (shown when there are other people on it) and Forward. The reply goes out from the mailbox the email came to.

The buttons above an open conversation. Hold the pointer over a button to see its keyboard shortcut.

Step 3: Tidy up

The same toolbar has Archive, Star, Mark unread, Report spam and Trash.

  • Archive takes it out of the Inbox but keeps it, like in Gmail.
  • Star marks it to find later in Starred.
  • Report spam moves it to Spam at your provider. In the Spam folder the button is Not spam instead.
  • Trash moves it to Trash. Inside Trash the button is Delete.

Work on many at once

Step 4: Tick several conversations

Tick the box on each one. Hold Shift and click to tick a whole range. A toolbar appears above the list with Archive, Mark read, Star, Report spam and Trash. The box at the far left ticks every loaded conversation.

With conversations ticked, a toolbar appears above the list.
  1. 1: Tick conversations
  2. 2: Archive, Mark read, Star, Report spam and Trash

Step 5: Search recent mail

Click Search at the top of the list (or press /) and type. It searches the folder you are in. Press Esc to clear it.

Step 6: Search all your old mail

Mailpitcher keeps your recent mail. If a search finds nothing, click Search all mail at the provider. Mailpitcher asks Gmail, Outlook or your host to search everything and adds what it finds.

At the bottom of a folder, Load older messages brings in older mail the same way.

When a search finds nothing in recent mail, ask your provider to search everything.
  1. 1: Search all mail at the provider

Good to know

  • New mail usually shows up within a few minutes. To check now, click the round arrow (Check for new mail) next to the folder name.
  • Notifications: turn on new-mail notifications in Settings, Notifications.
  • Images in emails load through Mailpitcher, so senders can’t see where you are. To be asked first, turn on Ask before showing images in emails in Settings, Notifications.
